Want To Buy An Electric Bike? 7 Tips To Keep In Mind

Want to buy An Electric Bike

7 Tips to Consider If  You Want to Buy An Electric Bike Or A Scooter

If you are going to buy an electric bike, then what should you look for, what should you think about, check and test, we are going to discuss all this in this post so read carefully till the end.

Important Things You Need To Consider If You Want To Buy An Electric Bike or A Scooter

1.Price

We assume at this point that you have chosen the electric one in spite of its high price.

Yes, because if you compare the cost of an electric bike with a traditional bike, then obviously the cost is higher. For example if you are opting for a same power electric bike instead of a petrol one then the cost is 30 to 60% higher.

2. Range

The main things you have to see when you compare the two is the speed and the range. Yes, we always say that speed and range are the most important factors. If you don’t ride fast then lower top speed will also work, but range is even more important.

Let’s say that you have charged your battery from zero to hundred percent and after that, the range of your vehicle till the battery reaches 0% is the range, the range of some vehicles is 40-50 kilometres, some is 100 kilometres, generally 80 to 100 Kilometres in two wheeler is considered to be a good range.

How much do you use your two wheeler?

How much do you drive? How many times a day do you need to charge your bike? These are the things you need to Calculate. If your workplace is 2-3 Kilometres away from your home, then even a range of 50 kilometres is good enough for you. Because it can last 4-5 days for you after a single charge.

However, if the distance between your home and workplace is more than 10 to 15 kilometres then you should consider buying a bike or a scooter with a range higher than 80 kilometres to avoid charging very frequently.

3. Speed

Why we say speed is one of the most important factors is because imagine you buy an electric bike or a scooter with a good range but what you come to know is that the top speed of that bike or scooter is 40 to 50 kilometres? How would you feel? I wont feel good!

What should be the top speed? If you live in a very crowded place and never drive too close, then if the top speed is lower, then you can still go for it if it suits you.

But If you want to get a good one, then it should have at least 100 Kilometres per hour top speed for it to be interesting enough along with a good range.

4. Battery

If you are opting for an electric bike then Battery is also something you need to consider.

If you don’t buy a reliable branded bike then there are chances that the battery quality will also be very poor. Which means it will die very soon. And remember, the cost of replacing a battery is the highest maintenance cost of an electric vehicle and it can be more than 50 to 60% of the actual cost of the vehicle in some cases.

5. Charging

You need to also take into account how much time it takes to charge from zero to hundred percent as now a lot of models are available with fast charging support and fast chargers.

Most of the vehicles can either be charged at any authorised charging stations or battery swapping points if applicable.

6. Torque

If you are a person who likes speed vehicles the torque is something you want to check.

Torque is nothing but the initial acceleration power of the vehicle. How much time will it take to attain 0 to 100 kilometres per hour speed, so on and so forth.

You want this to be good for sure. Otherwise your bike will look like a tortoise.

7. Quality

On top of everything else make sure the build quality of your vehicle is also good as you don’t want to be replacing broken spare parts forever.’

Benefits of Electric Vehicles

Where a typical 2 wheeler is high maintenance and costs about 5-6 rupees per kilometre to run a typical electric 2 wheeler costs only about 10 to 20 paise per kilometre in the long run.

So, you save a lot of money.

Having said that, it is also important to purchase a reputable branded vehicle which has proven to be sustainable and low maintenance rather than going for any cheap vehicle.

Make Sure you consider these tips before buying any electric bike or a scooter, so that you don’t regret your bad decision later.
