Lakshadweep Flights Announced by SpiceJet
The Indian airline carrier Spicejet has just announced that it will begin offering flights to both Ayodhya and Lakshadweep.
Ajay Singh, the company’s chief executive officer, delivered the statement to the shareholders during the annual general meeting. Singh emphasized that the airline will grow stronger thanks to the most recent funding infusion. Additionally, he stated that a large portion of the Rs 2,250 crore in funding will be used to expand the airline business.
As per Planespotter’s website currently, SpiceJet’s fleet has operating 39 aircraft while 26 were grounded. Singh informed shareholders on Wednesday that the airline will soon begin offering air services to the union territory, under the government’s regional connectivity initiative for Lakshadweep, for which it has exclusive rights.
Spicejet will begin operating flights to Ayodhya and Lakshadweep. Ajay Singh, the CEO of Spicejet, stated that the airline will use a significant portion of the Rs 2,250 crore in funding to expand.
According to Singh’s statement to shareholders, the airline would shortly begin offering air services to Lakshadweep as part of the government’s regional connectivity initiative, for which it has exclusive rights.
Singh stated at the annual general meeting that SpiceJet will become a stronger and more resilient airline in the nation as a result of the most recent funding infusion, which will also open up new markets and opportunities for the business.
Lakshadweep vs Maldives
Spicejet Chief Executive Officer Ajay Singh’s statement coincides with a diplomatic spat between the Maldives and India.
Following his visit to Lakshadweep, a few Maldivian deputy ministers made disparaging remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India.
Following the outbreak in 2019, the Maldives became a popular vacation spot for Indians seeking leisure travel. Several industry associations and online travel agencies have since called for a boycott of the country.
Additionally, he said, the new funding infusion will assist in getting its grounded aircraft back into service.
The airline is heavily supported by Carlyle, according to people in the know, despite allegations that Carlyle Aviation Partners, a worldwide aircraft lessor and minority equity partner, has expressed interest in purchasing SpiceJet and its cargo division SpiceXpress.
With these changes to come the clear winner seems to be India and we Indians here as we will get a much better holiday option for much cheaper prices than going to another country.
Whereas, the future for the Maldives doesn’t look much bright
